Protein Polymer Technologies to Present At BiomaterialsOf The Future Conference
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 13, 1997 -- Protein Polymer Technologies, Inc.
(Nasdaq: PPTI), will present at the Medical Data International's "Biomaterials
of the Future" Conference on Tuesday, November 18, 1997 at the ANA Hotel in
San Francisco. This two-day conference brings together experts and emerging
medical companies to discuss latest advances in the development of new
biomaterial technologies in the cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and surgical
marketplace.
Joseph Cappello, Ph.D., Vice President of Research &
Development and Chief Technical Officer will discuss latest achievements with
PPTI's development programs, including new ProLastin(TM) hydrogels targeted
for the treatment of incontinence. Other targeted applications include
tissue adhesives and sealants, wound healing, contact lens coatings, surgical
adhesion barriers and drug delivery vehicles.
Protein Polymer Technologies, Inc., a San Diego-based biotechnology
company, has a technology platform that allows the creation of a number of
different classes of biocompatible polymers that enable cell growth, promote
the regeneration of tissue, bond to synthetic surfaces and resorb into tissue
at controlled rates. PPTI's lead program, a new generation of surgical
adhesives and sealants to replace or augment the use of sutures and staples,
is being developed in collaboration with Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson company.
